Leticia Cherchiglia Global Teaching and Learning Specialist Biography: Leticia provides leadership for the Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLS) section of the Center for Global Learning and Innovation, with the primary goals of supporting faculty development and fostering innovation in education. With a PhD in Information and Media Studies from Michigan State University, Leticia has extensive experience in areas related to instructional design, project management, user experience, and game design. She has published scholarly articles and presented at international, national, and local conferences on a variety of educational-related topics, such as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), global learning pedagogies, and the use of games for educational purposes.
Damaris Choti Coordinator of Student and Alumni Programs Biography: Dr. Damaris Choti is the Coordinator of Student and Alumni Programs at the African Studies Center, Michigan State University. She holds PhD and MA degrees in Educational Administration from MSU. Damaris oversees alumni and student engagement initiatives and activities for the center. She is a co-founder of MSU’s African Female Students Empowerment Program (AFSEP); advisory board member at the Greater Lansing African Female Empowerment Program (GLAFEP) and advises Africa-oriented student organizations at MSU.
Her areas of interest include educational leadership; women leadership; girls’ education and empowerment; student advising and mentorship and alumni relations. She has authored two book chapters: Learning from What Has Worked in Women School Leadership and Girls’ Education in Kenya (Lexington Books, 2021) and Where did the Girls go?: The Role of Socialization and Institutions in Silencing Female Voices (SUNY, 2015). She is a recipient of MSU’s Center for Gender in Global Context (GenCen) 2022 Inspiration Award in the category of Culture of Empowerment.
Jordan Cleland Global Learning Coordinator Biography: Jordan Cleland is a Global Learning Coordinator with primary responsibility for administering education abroad programs offered through the Lyman Briggs College and coordinating Domestic Study Away programs. She also assists with international internships and non-MSU programs.
From the Thumb of Michigan originally, Jordan is a Michigander born and raised. She did her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor and earned two degrees in Political Science and Japanese Studies. After graduation, she moved to Akita, Japan as part of the Japan Exchange Teaching (JET) Program and lived there for two years. Upon moving back to Michigan, Jordan decided to pursue her Master's in International Education Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies of Monterey, California. Her last semester of her degree she completed a 6-month practicum internship at Michigan State University’s Center for Global Learning and Innovation and now serves as a Global Learning Coordinator. Jordan enjoys Zumba, reading, and cats.
Ryan Cole Digital Outreach Coordinator Biography: Ryan Cole is the Digital Outreach Coordinator, creating video, photo, and graphics for the Office for Education Abroad, sharing those materials with both internal and external audiences. He also assists in the Advising Center. He has a BA in Film Studies from MSU and has worked professionally in videography and photography for 10 years. Outside of the office, you may catch Ryan bicycling around the greater Lansing area.
