Biography: Shannon Harasta (she/her) joined the Second Language Studies PhD program in the fall of 2023. She earned her MA in Linguistics from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and her BA in Cognitive Science and Game Simulation Arts and Sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Prior to her graduate studies she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal, where she worked in the district of Jajarkot as a food security volunteer. Her research interests have been shaped by her experience as a Peace Corps volunteer and focus on the impact of socialization and emotion on second and additional language acquisition. She joined ISP as a Peace Corps Recruiter in August 2024.
