Biography: Cindy Fiser (she/her) is a PhD student dual majoring in Entomology and the Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior (EEB) Program here at MSU. She served as a Peace Corps Natural Resource Management Volunteer in Malawi from 2018 to 2020, but was evacuated during the COVID-19 pandemic. During her service, she worked with local counterparts to establish community gardens, tree nurseries, and environmental education programs in her community, as well as to develop local youth leadership and girls' empowerment clubs. As a result of her direct experience working with subsistence farmers in Malawi, Cindy is now pursuing a PhD with a research focus on the intersection of conservation ecology within agricultural settings and the impacts to farming communities. She is also part of the Graduate Certification in Community Engagement here at MSU. Cindy is currently serving as the Co-Outreach chair for Graduate Women in Sciences (GWIS), as well as the Entomology representative for the Council of Graduate Students (COGS). She joined ISP as a Peace Corps Recruiter in August 2023.
